Providing good website content to your audience much more important than providing keywords if you want search engines to rank your business.
Very often when I meet clients about a website one of the first things they do is provide me with a list of words that they want the website to rank for before providing me with content.
For the purposes of this example I am going to use a Fictitious Solicitor based in Dunshaughlin. During my consultancy he shows me his 5 pages website one of which is his services on his services page is a bulleted list something like this….
- Family law
- Civil Law
- Insurance Claims
Now of all the the other content on his website that is the only mention of Family Law on the whole site and his question to me is,
When I type ‘Family Law Dunshaughlin’ or ‘Divorce Lawyer Meath’ into Google I dont come up, why is that?
Well the simple answer is that your website mentioned Family Law once in the whole site and its sitting there on its own doing nothing. And the site doesn’t mention divorce at all! Its not also linkable content. If you want good traffic on your website provide your audience with resourceful content, content that they will share, link to or reference.
Infact this page is now more likely to rank for Divorce Law Meath than some solicitors websites!
SEO is not a case any more of stuffing keywords into meta tags and providing code like this……
<meta name=”Keywords” Content=”Solicitors, Dunshaughlin, Family Law, Divorce, Separation, Custody, I want the house!, evil ex husband“>
OK OK I got carried away! but you get the picture 🙂
Blogging is a great way of doing this, If that Solicitor was to provide shareable and informative content such as an article on “Top concerns for couples facing the Family Law courts”. The article becomes informative and resourceful. Its not direct selling but it is promotion through knowledge.
Until next time have a good Monday and feel free to share this content if you feel it informative and contact me if you need help with Digitally Developing your business.
